Position: Accountant
Department: MCD’s Accounting and Finance Department
Report to: Accounting and Finance Manager
Working place: Head quarter of MCD in Hanoi and other MCD’s projects sites at local upon request
Introduction about MCD
Centre for Marinelife Conservation and Community Development (MCD) is a Vietnamese non-governmental organization established in 2003, actives in marine conservation, improve coastal community livelihoods and sustainable development in Vietnam’s coastal zones.
MCD recognizes that marine and coastal environment where brings livelihoods, foods and marine eco-services that needed to protect and develop to ensure the quality of community lives and country development. The degradation of marine ecosystem will reduce opportunities of coastal community at the present as well as in the future, thus MCD’s objective is to support coastal community to harmonize environment protection and economic-social development.
With more than a decade of devotion and growth, till now, MCD has engaged in implementing more than 50 projects with different sizes, funded by national and international organisations. MCD’s Accounting and Finance Department has a mandateof building, maintaining and ensuring that the MCD’s system of accounting and finance is operational effectively, in accordance with the current law and meeting MCD’s performance requirements.
In order to enhance the human resources for the Accounting and Finance Department in meeting the increasingly expansion of the organisation and new donor requirement, MCD is looking for a qualified accountant with the following details.
The candidate should be in charge of accounting of MCD projects as assigned by the Head of the Accounting and Finance Department, fulfilling the following key tasks:
Job Description
- Prepare financial vouchers in accordance with MCD and donors requirements
- Input accounting-finance data into MCD accounting software system
- Manage project’s financial vouchers
- Manage, monitor on expenditures of MCD project local partners
- Prepare monthly financial report
- Monitor financial advance in accordance with policies and make notice to staff in excess of advance
- Work with banks on bank transfer, get bank statements and other banking transactions involved upon request
- Be in charge of completing work related to organisation personal income tax
- Be in charge of reporting and monitoring list of project requirements in cooperating with MCD’s Administration and Human Resource Management
- Complete the guideline materials and reporting procedures on VAT and VAT-refund in accordance with donors’ requirement upon request
- Support projects’ teams to prepare workshop, training course, meeting, procurement and other project activities upon request
- Translate finance – accounting documents
- In charge of other appropriate work as requested by the MCD’s Accounting – Finance Department and the and the MCD Board of Directors
Requirements
- Graduated university degree in Finance, Accounting (master degree is an advantage)
- At least 2 years of experience on finance management and accounting. Priority of experience on working with NGO or working on USAID-funded projects
- Ability to demonstrate critical and system thinking, respect logic, coherence and consistency
- Ability to work in a well-organized manner and pay attention to details
- Respect honesty, responsibility and enthusiasm
- Demonstrate good computer skills: Microsoft Word and Excel (with experience in QuickBooks accounting software is an advantage)
- Possess Vietnamese, English proficiency skills (listening, speaking, reading and writing)
- Ability to communicate within the team and with other partners and have strong presentation skill
- Ability to work independently and with team efficiently
- Ability to travel and work in the field
Working place and time:
- Selected applicant will work at MCD Head quarter in Hanoi and is traveling to the field upon working request
- First contract is 12 months, with opportunity to extend upon MCD’s working condition
